More About Me:

I know how much I enjoy posting about makeup and lifestyle but I feel like in order to build a real relationship between my audience and I, it’s best that I tell a little more about myself.

This is going to be in a bulleted list to make things easier for you all. I didn’t answer all of them but the whole list of questions can be found here.

  • What’s your middle name?

My middle name is Arianna. I love my middle name, I must admit.

  • What does your name mean to you?

I feel like my name is incredibly creative. April usually is the beginning of Spring so that means ‘new beginnings’. April Arianna just sounds innocent in a good way.

  • Are you named after anyone?

Nope. All I know is April is a month and I was supposed to be Adriana but the nurses messed up, giving me a beautiful name on accident.

  • Who did you look up to growing up?

She probably doesn’t know this, but my older sister. We grew up separately but knowing she’s my biggest supporter and best long distance friend, I always looked up to her. Good Libra!

  • Good characteristics?

Sometimes my impulse can be good, but I think my optimism is my best characteristic. I’m always so bubbly and all about good vibes.

  • Favorite thing(s) about yourself?

My hair has always been one. My skin, my clothes, my creativity, the list goes on but long story short, I love myself.

  • Which parent are you closest to?

Both! Although my dad passed away, I write in a journal and the entries are in letter format and they’re all info I would want him to read so that makes me feel close. Aside from that, I have a pretty good bond with my mom and although we clash at times (crazy fire signs), she’s the one to go to for anything.

  • Which of your parents are you more like?

Fortunately, I have the sassiness of my mother but unfortunately, I have some of my dad’s side. Hopefully I learn better and don’t turn out like his family.

  • Are your grandparents still married?

My mom’s parents were but my grandfather is passed. Hilarious story about my dad’s: his bio dad left my grandmother to start a new family in California. They both passed.

  • What relative was important to you growing up?

I said it above, but it’s my older sister.

  • What is one thing you’ve never revealed to your parents?

Well, the most recent is my helix piercing.

  • What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender?

I wouldn’t know, but I know everyone except my parents thought I was going to be a boy.

  • What do you call your grandparents?

We call my grandmother ‘Ma’ on my dad’s side and my granddad is ‘Grandpa Macey’. I never had a name for my mother’s dad, but I call my grandma ‘Chucha’.

  • What is your biggest accomplishment?

It was for sure the time I published my book ‘Tales of Broken Mages’. It’s not the greatest book in the world, but I managed to do it all at seventeen.

  • Biggest fear?

It’s probably failure, my brain has a weird bug that reminds me of consequences. If I’m going to talk irrational, it’s the dark sometimes, and deep water.

  • Biggest regret?

Trying to change people when they refuse to change. What I don’t regret is losing the friendship, but I regret trying so hard.

  • Your eye color?

It’s brown but it has a black outline.

  • What inspires you?

My loved ones flourishing, positive vibes, pictures on Pinterest (no joke)

  • What has required the most courage of you in your life so far?

Admitting my faults and telling them of some unsettling things that have been done to me from past ‘friends’.

  • Who is your favorite actor? Actress? Celebrity? Musician?

Patrick Swayze and Tom Hiddleston. Audrey Hepburn. Chrissy Teigen. Marina and the Diamonds AND Lana Del Rey.

  • Favorite person in the world?

Not going to lie. It’s Jeon Jungkook from BTS and I do not take that back. But if I’m talking in my personal life, it’s my close friends.

  • Favorite childhood memory?

There was a time my sister came over and we pretended that we were living in a haunted cabin and the ‘ghost’ haunting our cabin murdered Aunt Jemima and ate all of the pancakes we apparently ordered. A vivid imagination.

  • Favorite color(s)?

A nice pastel pink and I love yellow.

  • Favorite drink?

Coconut water, any type of tea.

  • Favorite fairytale?

Alice in Wonderland.

  • Favorite food?

Mac and cheese. Scratch that. Cheese. That’s it.

  • Favorite holiday destination?

My mom’s hometown in Mexico.

  • Favorite ice cream flavor?

This is going to sound weird, but it’s avocado, rose petal, and lavender. Rose I tried in Mexico, there’s a thai ice cream place in Chinatown and there’s another ice cream shop in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

  • Favorite music genre?

I listen to more pop but my other top two’s would be K-Pop and Rock.

  • Favorite physical activity?

I’m an archer, so it’s for sure archery.

  • Favorite quote?

I believe in PINK. -Audrey Hepburn

  • Favorite snack?

Cheese…

  • Favorite song?

At the moment, it’s God is a Woman by Ariana Grande.

  • Favorite sport?

Definitely archery.

  • Favorite time of the day?

Mornings. I love it.

  • Favorite way to pass the time?

Either write or sing. If I have a bare face, I’ll do my makeup or a skincare routine.

  • What is the name of your favorite restaurant?

I don’t have a favorite restaurant but I can admit that my favorite at the moment is the Chicago Diner. It’s vegan and although I’m a pesca-pollo vegetarian, I would not be upset if I were forced to eat it everyday.

  • What is your favorite town or city?

There’s this pretty town in Mexico called Dolores Hidalgo and the center of the city is so beautiful. The churches over there are breathtaking, there’s a cool museum, and I tried avocado and rose petal flavored ice cream over there.

  • What’s your favorite candle scent?

This goes for anything. If it smells like lilac or lavender or both, it’s valid. Coconut is an exception.

  • Favorite social media channel?

This one is obvious: Instagram (y’all can follow me @i_am_aeslin or @april.gonz47)

  • Favorite place to take an out-of-town guest?

Chinatown. Either that or I would take them to the Wicker Park neighborhood.

  • What was your favorite subject in high school?

I loved band for the good vibes, my instrument (I played alto and baritone saxophone), and the friendship I had with my teacher. I also liked U.S History and only one course in my lifetime activities class (it was archery).

  • Least favorite subject in high school?

Piano because (even though she has a tenure) the teacher was awful at her job and as detention for ditching class, she made me clean her office instead of going to detention. Forensics was okay, but we had a crazy teacher and it got intense to the point where we all worked to get her fired. It worked.

  • Favorite TV show in your childhood?

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Fun fact: I met Jason David Frank (Green Ranger), Austin St. John (Red Ranger), and David Yost (Blue Ranger).

  • Are you more likely to avoid conflict or engage it head on?

Both. If it’s with people I’m not so comfortable with, I will avoid it but throw hints. If I’m with close ones, I’ll engage immediately. Most of the time, I would engage instead of avoid.

  • Dog or cat person?

Both! But I’m more biased towards dogs since I got three babes here at home.

  • Are you a good cook?

When I want to be…. I can bake pretty good banana bread.

  • If you had more courage what would you do differently in your life now?

Probably call out my abusive family members for implanting the “I hate myself” bug in my head, stand up to the kids who bullied me in grade school and high school, call out all the boys who dumped me or ghosted me (THIS SOUNDS SO DEPRESSING I AM SORRY), probably admit my feelings to that one guy, maybe order that sandwich I’ve been meaning to get…

  • What is good about how you are living your life right now?

I’m healthy! I’m not as pessimistic as I used to be and I love being happy and trying to surround myself in positive vibes!

  • Who is the best teacher you’ve ever had?

Uncle Jimothy! Speaking of which, I want my saxophone back…

  • Who is the first person you call when something exciting/horrible happens?

It will be my best friend, Dayana. We text, call, you name it, she is always the first to know any news.

  • Who is the worst boss you’ve ever had?

Probably my boss from my first job. My mom works for him to this day but he’s unorganized, does not care about the restaurants outer appearance, the customer’s opinions, the sanity of his employees and from the words of my little brother: “If I can call Gordon Ramsay over, I would.”

  • Can you dance?

Kind of! Again, I’m not the greatest, but I do dance practice.

  • Do you remember your dreams?

A good amount of them.

  • Do you have a hidden dream that you’ve never shared with anyone?

I have only told a couple people about this and, well, long story short, it ruined Avengers: Infinity War for me. I had a dream where the Infinity stones were hiding in my house and Thanos (who looked like a cartoon with beady eyes) was just chilling on my couch with such sass questioning where the stones are and said he’d spare me if I helped him find them all.

  • Do you have a lot of acquaintances or just a few close friends?

I’m currently figuring that out but as of now I have a couple close friends and some close family members.

  • Do you have any allergies?

Well ever since that penicillin treatment…

  • Do you have pets?

YES! Raph and Gams are my turtles and the family dogs consist of Bella, Zora, and Jazz! I have a story of them on my second Instagram handle (@i_am_aeslin).

  • Do you have a best friend? If so, then who?

My best friend is Sonia! We’ve been friends since 7th grade!

  • Do you believe in love at first sight?

I always believe it at second sight.

  • Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend?

If I’m talking REAL boyfriend, it was this guy named Isaiah. Cool guy, it just was never meant to be. He was a bit of a muse for me when writing my books. Oh that Aquarius… Still was never meant to be.

  • First friend in college?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. She was a pure mess and I don’t care if she was a Gemini, her moon sign did NOT vibe well with me.

  • What is your idea of a special time together?

Honestly, it’s either a long car ride or a lunch date. A real special time is running an errand because that shows how comfortable you are with each other.

  • Most used swear word?

Ah yes, my time to shine….

Fuck and shit.

  • What is your star sign?

I am an Aries sun, Sagittarius moon, and Taurus rising.

  • What would you name your daughter if you had one? Son?

I have been waiting for this….

Girl: Either Rubi Brendalynn or Alice Artemis

Boy: Jason Michael or just Dennis

  • What do you dislike about living in your neighborhood?

Living in this house. Gentrification.

  • What drains your energy?

People who don’t listen to advice and continue to be pessimistic or childish.

  • What’s the best part of your job?

Being around the thing I love the most and learning more and more about it everyday. I also love all the people I work with.

  • What about religion has changed for you as you’ve aged?

I grew up Catholic but due to the pressures of having to live up to this expectation of being Catholic and nothing else, I went through a lot of stress and just gave up on that religion. I do have beliefs and I do love astrology, and religion is something I will always respect (until someone uses it as a way to bash others).

  • What current world events are really troubling to you?

Families being separated and the treatment of the kids from ICE (I’m still not going to stop talking about how a child died in their care), how a US bomb killed 40 innocent children, white privilege, the list goes on…

  • What has been the hardest thing for you to face or learn?

Being an adult is hard. Pushing loved ones away is a bad idea until you need help.

  • Lastly, describe yourself in a single sentence.

These are song lyrics:

‘Cause I am the goddess and you are the broken, bloody mess. (The song is Persephone by Dollskin).
